Artist and designer Amber Khokhar combines her strong background in design with a diverse academic and practical knowledge of Traditional Art to create enchanting designs, paintings and products.

HRH Prince Charles commissioned Amber to design a carpet for Buckingham Palace, making Amber the 'First person commissioned to design a modern carpet for the Palace'. On seeIng her watercolour designs for silk and wool carpets 'Underwhich Rivers Flow' HRH suggested Amber design a carpet for The Picture Gallery.
Situated at the centre of Buckingham Palace the 40metre long carpet sits alongside George IV's collection of paintings which includes works by Holbein, Reubens, Rembrandt Canaletto and Van Dyke.

Amber's private clients include The Designers Guild, The Islamic Art Museum Malaysia and Rolls Royce. Whilst Public commissions include window designs for ‘The Wall of Faith’ at Aintree University Hospital Liverpool; tiled wall panels for ‘The Prayer Hall’ at Islamia Girls School and ‘Parasol’ exhibited at The Victoria and Albert Museum in conjunction with ‘Maharaja: The Splendour of India’s Royal Courts’, Art Matters and Warren Park Children’s Centre.

Beginning her art career in design, Amber's clients included Amnesty International, Channel Four and Rhythm King Records. As Senior Graphic Designer at The Design Council she designed the corporate identity for The Young Designer’s Centre, Haymarket opened by HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne. Her exhibition designs include '100 Years of British Invention' mounted in conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents and 'Fit for The Queen; 25th anniversary of The Queen's Awards for Export and Technology', both opened by HM The Queen and HH Duke of Edinburgh. Her achievements in Western design provide an arresting complement to her interest in her personal heritage and her enthusiasm for Traditional art, craft and design.

An alumni of Central/Saint Martin’s, Amber's studies include a British Council scholarship at The Academy of Fine Art, Warsaw and tutelage in Indian Art and Indian Temple Architecture with Dr Pramod Chandra at Harvard University. She holds a Masters in Traditional Art and continues to share her academic and practical knowledge through workshops. As an accomplished educator, Amber has devised practical workshops at schools and museums locally and internationally, she is a Sessional Lecturer at Birkbeck College, London University, where she teaches on the World Art and Artefacts Programme.

Amber continues to teach, and work from her studio at Cockpit Arts in London where her distinctive hand painted art and designs are highly sought after by public and private galleries, art buyers and design businesses.
