Exploring trans cultural symbolism and poetry to evoke the rich beauty and the hidden mystery of an ambiguous motif. Popo granatum is a play on the words Popo (meaning police officer) and pomegranate.
In some traditions the pomegranate is a symbol of fecundity and prosperity, a tree found in the Higher Garden, the Garden of Essence. Higher because it is all fruit. The kernels of individuality have been absorbed into the whole.
Others have chosen to associate the pomegranate with the hand grenade. Though the starting point of the painting is somewhat ambiguous the intention is to turn despair into something beautiful.
